As some of you might know, I am trying to draft a post-apocalyptic sci-fi/fantasy game called Crossroads, formerly called Vojkrucigo. It revolves around a world rich in elemental magic and the conflicts between those who can harness it via spellcasting and those who instead wield magitech to tap into forces they cannot otherwise. There are no defined classes outside of a person's chosen elemental magic school and whether they are a mage, an artificer, or neither.

There are factions a player character can join to help and these are closely tied to one's elemental affinity and their "class". Each one has their own history, motivations, and lore that might make a person who jumped straight into the game second-guess whether they should have chosen to do so.

However, I developed an "amnesiac" route that would ease a new player (and new DM) into the process of creating a character, step-by-step while
still weaving a story around said character, explaining the lore and world they are now in before letting them roam.

Suppose a DM hosts a game of Crossroads that does not follow the amnesiac path but has a player making a character that is ready to begin their adventure. They choose an element to begin with-- but should they also choose a faction right away? Or should they just choose whether or not they are a mage or artificer or neither before deciding?

Worldbuilding Dilemma: in a world where different species physically and mentally age at different rates, what are the ethical problems one must consider when writing interspecies romance?

The assumptions are that both parties are considered adults and the relationship is consensual.

- For a race that ages mentally as a human would but remains locked into an adulthood stage for the remainder of its life, writing a romance between a thirty year old human and a 70 year old of that race (considered middle age)?

-For a race that ages slowly mentally and physically, writing a romance between a thirty year old human and a 100 year old of that race (considered an adult at that point)?

-For a race that ages faster mentally and physically, writing a romance between a thirty year old and a twenty year old of that race (considered elderly)?

Worldbuild ask: what is your headcanon on the texture of Orcish skin? Humanlike? Leathery, like a hide? Or somewhere in between?
